This year's Grand Prize will be a classic Trek Elance road bike donated by SOPO. To obtain such a treasure you will have to run a gauntlet of five bike-friendly bars, each posing an unique set of challenges. To keep things sociable, play is for points, not time. Bring a friend or two. Free beer and a variety of runner-up prizes await those who can find their ways to the finish. Registration begins at 11am in Woodruff Park for the noon starting hour. The advance cost is $15 for Atlanta Bicycle Coalition members or $30 to join in both the fun and our voice for cycling advocacy. Please follow this link to the event Facebook page.
From dressy parades to everyday errands, Atlantans on bicycles are numerous in my portraits queue. Wonderful it is to live where our city government is responding with infrastructure improvements, and now, our very own Chief Bicycle Officer.
The month of May is themed all things bicycle. Today we ride with Mayor Reed from City Hall to Piedmont Park and next Saturday, the much missed Heels on Wheels resumes with a tour of Decatur.
The noble sentiment, Never Give Up, here realized by Living Walls muralist Eme, gains a poignant dimension this damp morning of Streets Alive. While Cyclofemme riders enjoyed clear skies last Sunday for their tour East Atlanta and Kirkwood, Peachtree Street is ours today, rain or shine. See you there!
The generosity of Fallen Arrows and advocacy of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition are yours to wear in this limited edition shirt commemorating Bike To Work Day. On Valentine's Day Atlanta cyclists fell in love...with SoBi!
The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition gave a lovely party celebrating our shared passion, honoring individual achievements and introducing many of us to the Social Bicycle that will be our city's bike share ride. In case you missed my facebook album, here are but a few highlights from it. Props to The Spindle for dressing models for the runway show. 2014 is looking good, indeed.
More than an afternoon of zany fun, Streets Alive is symbolic of a shift in the dynamic of growth in Atlanta, says Maria Saporta.
Thank you, Atlanta Bicycle Coalition.
Drawn to things glamorous and off-beat, I am seeking photographic commissions. Email me.

When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race.

The bicycle is the most civilized conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart.
