The search for a portrait setting at the Heels On Wheels ride today found this vintage Airstream trailer, the travelling home of Small Room Collective. Lauren and Travis have brought their treasures to Church Street, Decatur for the weekend. Look for them next to the Victory Sandwich Shop. The graphic on the trailer's number plate is not wishful thinking. It commemorates French racing cyclist Alfred LeTourneur, who towed an Airstream trailer at Metropolitan Airport in Van Nuys, California in 1947.
The Heels On Wheels hiatus ends Saturday morning at ten o'clock, when cyclists will gather at Houndstooth Road in Decatur. Say ride organizers, "Suggested dress is 'bike fancy' though heels are optional." Please look to their facebook page for more information.
The month of May is themed all things bicycle. Today we ride with Mayor Reed from City Hall to Piedmont Park and next Saturday, the much missed Heels on Wheels resumes with a tour of Decatur.
The noble sentiment, Never Give Up, here realized by Living Walls muralist Eme, gains a poignant dimension this damp morning of Streets Alive. While Cyclofemme riders enjoyed clear skies last Sunday for their tour East Atlanta and Kirkwood, Peachtree Street is ours today, rain or shine. See you there!
The fun resumes Sunday at 2pm, when three miles of Peachtree Street from MLK Drive to 17th Street become a pedestrian paradise until 6pm. New for this event will be a service of the upcoming Atlanta Cycling Festival, It's a bike wash, YEAH! Like her shiny spokes and forks? You, too, can have such a clean machine. Just bring your ride to Villains Wicked Heroes, 903 Peachtree Street. Your donation will support a week-long celebration of all things bicycle June 7-14. Atlanta Cycling Festival

When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race.

The bicycle is the most civilized conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart.
