Roswell Mayor Jere Wood will wear number 1.
100 lire challenge
This arrangement of Italian colors was seen at the High Museum for Art In Bloom.
A tradition one hundred years in the making, gran fondo rides are spirited parties celebrating all things Italian: art, culture, design, food and, yes, bicycling. Thank the Southern Bicycle League and the city of Roswell for bringing Gran Fondo Italia Atlanta–Roswell to Georgia October 18-19. Saturday offers cultural immersion, an opportunity to sample Italian delights and get psyched for Sunday's exertions. Times will be recorded so riders may push themeselves or challenge the fields in distances of 30, 62 and 105 miles. Four miles of the long route are a timed interval ascending Burnt Mountain. Bob Dallas of the SBL extended a personal challenge to Roswell Mayor Jere Wood, a 100 lire coin for completing the climb. The view alone is priceless and the descent a thrilling turn homeward to the grand finale in Roswell.
